Manufacturing Engineer
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to complete the implementation of the new plant configuration and improve our processes. This person will also participate in the improvement of our production vehicles and quality controls.
- Carry out, manage and supervise necessary changes in the design of parts, assemblies and procedures for production vehicles;
- Design various parts and assemblies using CAD software (SolidWorks) for vehicles in production and development;
- Develop, study and optimize manufacturing and assembly procedures for vehicles already in production or under development;
- Maintain up-to-date databases and assembly bills of materials for production vehicles;
- Implement modern, efficient working methods in engineering and production. Act as an effective and committed bridge between the engineering design group and the vehicle manufacturing group;
- Validate all changes to parts & assemblies before they are procured and put into production;
- Participate in the plant’s OHS committee, manage health & safety files and implement safe and ergonomic work methods with appropriate equipment, ensuring compliance with current standards in line with modern practices;
- Train, mentor and supervise manufacturing engineering trainee(s);
- Support the production team with methods, quality issues and equipment;
- Provide technical support to the procurement team in dealings with suppliers.
- Using a project management tool, prepare and follow a schedule and budget for expenses and solution implementation.
- Review productivity and tooling requirements
- Optimize facility layout, production lines and tooling operations
- Collaborate with the development engineering team, contractors and suppliers
- Participate in various committees (continuous improvement and occupational health and safety committee) and projects such as a deployment of a 5S system
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or combination of relevant training and experience ;
- Experience in implementing process improvements in a production environment;
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques;
- Understanding of value-added tools/techniques and their effective use (Kaizen methods, Lean Six Sigma, 5S, Industrie 4.0);
- Experience in purchasing and procurement is an asset;
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or in the process of becoming a member (CPI).

- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French;
- Computer skills: Office Suite, SolidWorks, familiar with an ERP system (Acomba, IQMS, SAP, JD Edwards, etc.);
- Assets: EPlan, VBA and AutoCad.
